Bush walk to the Royal National Park

Come and join us on Saturday 25th May at 10am

We are very pleased to have Tony Rogers organising our next bush walk for members and friends.

We plan to meet at the car park at the southern entrance to Lady Carrington Drive at 10.30am.

Directions: Enter the Royal National Park via McKell Avenue at Waterfall. Continue a few kms. downhill past the park entry station (cost $11 per car) and the waterfall car park, till you get to the bridge across the Hacking River. Immediately after the bridge, turn left onto Sir Bertram Stevens drive. After about another 1km stop at the car park. MAP

Be Prepared: You will almost certainly encounter leeches & possibly mosquitoes, so bring repellent. If you want a longer walk in the afternoon, bring lunch & drinking water."

Morning Walk: Our initial walk will be a short morning walk from the car park along the "Forest Path" down to the Hacking River crossing & return. This is an easy stroll (about 20 mins brisk walk) probably about 2 hours entertainment for orchid spotters.

Then about 1km easy walk along Lady Carrington drive from the car park, there is a patch of Corybas pruinosus which should be flowering by then, if we haven't seen any yet.

Lunch: Please bring a picnic lunch for yourself and include plenty of water.

After Lunch: Depending on how you feel, you are most welcome to join us on a short drive to another location & wander around a bit.
